Through the whimsical story of a Vietnamese girl, her grandfather and good ole American Westerns, this film humorously probes issues of race, identity, cultural dislocation and assimilation.
Adeline Huynh is a graduate of the University of Victoria with a Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing and Film. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She has been involved in a producing and /or directing capacity on four films, and has writing credit on three films. She is currently working on a treatment for a film for an LA based filmmaker. In October 2005 her proposal for a short film called AnOther Western was selected as one of four projects commissioned for Voice It! Immigrant, Visible Minority and Aboriginal Artists Express Anti-racism Experiences on Film. Voice It!, a joint initiative between CineVic and ICA funded through grants. In 2005, she was part of a filmmaking partnership that submitted a proposal for a documentary to the NFB sponsored competition Reel Diversity. The project was short-listed and received an Investigate grant. Adeline has also worked for non-profit organizations in various capacities, including facilitating filmmaking workshops for Anti-DOTE, a multi-racial girl's group, and for the University of Victoria's Students' Society Advocacy Council. She has been a member of CineVic Society of Independent Filmmakers since 2005, and most recently was elected to the CineVic Board of Directors.
